Many pieces of literature and art take place during an important event in history. The authors of the books and the artists wanted the reader or the observer to understand that the characters and the story they wrote or drew was based on their perspective of the era when their written books or painting. In this essay I will be talking about the events in literature (The Sun Also Rises, The Great Gatsby, and Night) and art (The Scream, and The Persistence of Memory). Some people say Christians are â€Å"uptight,† and â€Å"close-minded,† of which changes the view of my classmates and coworkers whenever I talk to them about seemingly controversial subjects. Examples of certain subjects include abortion or same-sex marriage. What they don’t realize is my morals and my religion are at times, one in the same. If not that, then my religion is what created my morals to begin with. Influences from people such as my mother and father, as well as my youth group director, Dan Hampton, has helped me mold my values into what they are today. The first Arctic Monkeys song I heard was â€Å"I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor†. I sat down 5 years ago and watched Alex Turner tell us not to ‘believe the ‘ype’. Since then, Arctic Monkeys have been one of my favourite bands, hence the high rating. 2006 brought us Alex Turners plain t-shirts, jeans and straw hair in the album Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What Im Not. Their famous riffs on the guitar have now transformed into deep, heavy bass and drums, proving to be highly effective in todays UK top 40 as the first track from the album reached number 1 (Do I Wanna Know?). 2013 brings us slicked hair and formal wear. I have also noticed that Alex pouts a lot more than he did back in 2006 The album fluctuates between relaxing beats – I Wanna Be Yours – to distorted madness – R U Mine? yet they seem to blend in with one an other and keep the flow of the overall album going. His singing voice now has clarity unlike in 2006 when he strained it to emphasise his accent. The lyrics of this song are based around the words of John Cooper Clarkes poem – I wanna be yours. Alex Turner has done an excellent job of transforming the words into a beautiful, simple song with elements of British slang which I find quite amusing; Alex wants to be our â€Å"lecky meter† that well be â€Å"cold without†! I like the last minute of â€Å"Mad Sounds† as its very laid back and relaxed. However, I think its too different from all of the other songs, possibly indicating the feel of what the next album is going to sound likeI think it should be swapped with Stop The World which is on the B-side album. AM immediately dominated my top 5 favourite albums of all time, simply because of Alex Turners genius song writing and the bands new heavy bass and drums. The fluctuating tempo is intense and keeps you listening. It will be very hard to top this one.

Description of the Article The said article appeared in the Newser issue of August 14th, 2012. The article is about a Thai Senator who accidentally shot his secretary at a dinner. According to a report by the police, Senator Boonsong Kowawisarat was happily enjoying a meal with members of his family when he accidentally shot his ex-wife who allegedly worked as his secretary (Quinn, 2012). Although it might appear that the shot went off accidentally, it is not obvious why he chose to go for dinner with his submachine gun loaded. In a lawsuit, close relatives of the Senator’s ex-wife were the plaintiff while Senator Boonsong Kowawisarat was the defendant. Elements of Negligence According to Iyer (200 1), the elements of negligence include duty, breach of duty, proximate cause, or casual connection, and damages. Usually, the plaintiff has the burden of proving a number of things. First, he or she must be able to show that the defendant owed a duty to him or her. If yes, then one must ask whether the tortfeasor breached the duty of reasonable care. If not, the injury is finished, and once again, the analyst concludes that there was no negligence. Contributory Negligence as a Form of Negligence Defense Contributory negligence is a form of negligence defense which the defendant could use to defeat the negligence action. According the Law Reform Act of 1945, if any person suffers damage as the result partly of his or her own fault and partly of the fault of any other person or persons, a claim in respect of that damage shall not be defeated by reason of the fault of the persons suffering the damage, but the damages recoverable in respect shall be reduced to such extent as the court thinks just and equitable considering the claimant’s share in the responsibility for the damage. This is sometimes referred to as the stalemate rule. If both parties were to blame, the law did nothing to compensate the loss. The statutory provisions mark a considerable improvement over the previous common law in terms of not only fairness but also simplicity since the stalemate rule was subject to considerable variation over the years. I am, therefore, convinced that the victim should bear part of the blame and hence, contributory negligence can be used by the Senator in defense. The apportionment of responsibility between the parties, however, ought to be the most difficult aspect of the contributory negligence. Ideally, this apportionment should reflect responsibility for the damage suffered. Responsibility in this context is a question partly of causal influence and partly of degree of fault. Practically, courts arrive at the reduction in a fairly rough manner, without engaging in very detailed enquiries about causal impact or relative fault. Argument for or Against Proce eding with a Lawsuit In my opinion, the plaintiff does not need to proceed to press charges. As it has been explained above, the plaintiff bears equal responsibility.
